Notorious Chain Snatcher Nabbed: Stolen Gold Chains Recovered

Crime Branch officials have apprehended a notorious criminal out on bail from Thane district, known for 55 chain-snatching cases across various cities, a senior police officer confirmed on Monday.
Stolen gold chains estimated at Rs 3.13 lakh were seized from the accused, identified as Ghulam Ali alias Nadar Sartaj Jafri (40).
Officials from Crime Branch unit V in Thane's Wagle Estate utilized a strategic blend of intelligence and technical inputs to arrest Jafri, a resident of Ambivili, Kalyan, stated Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime) Shekar Bagde.
A senior police inspector revealed that 45 cases had been pending against Jafri across Nashik, Pune, Ahmednagar, and Thane districts in Maharashtra and some locations in Gujarat since 2015.
Out on bail at the time of his arrest, Jafri was involved in ten additional chain snatchings. He operated solo, executing his crimes by swiftly snatching chains from victims on his motorbike.
