AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi on Sunday launched a scathing attack on the BJP-led NDA government regarding the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, accusing it of intending to destroy Waqf properties instead of protecting them.
Addressing a press conference, the Hyderabad MP urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to withdraw the proposed legislation. Owaisi alleged that the bill lacks provisions to protect Waqf properties and accused the BJP of deceit.
Owaisi argued that the bill sends a message to Muslims that the government aims to seize Waqf properties. He queried various contentious clauses, including the empowerment of district collectors in property disputes and allowing non-Muslims on Waqf boards. The bill, introduced in the Lok Sabha on August 8, continues to spark heated debates.
