Aam Aadmi Party MLA Saurabh Bhardwaj on Monday accused the central government of 'hooliganism' and described the Waqf properties money laundering case against AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan as 'rotten.' Bhardwaj pointed out that the case against Khan, the then Chairman of the Board, is baseless and politically motivated.
Bhardwaj mentioned that the court had granted bail to Khan in the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) case, highlighting that the central government is 'misusing agencies.' He cited the 2016 ACB investigation, which concluded with Khan's arrest but saw him granted bail due to lack of evidence of financial misconduct in recruitment.
He further added that a third agency, the Enforcement Directorate (ED), has now become involved. Bhardwaj claimed the central government is targeting political opponents by misusing legal agencies. On the other side, BJP National Spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari defended the actions, stating that the raids are lawful measures against corruption, backed by the Supreme Court's directives.
