In a significant development on Saturday, a court ordered that no coercive action be taken against AAP councillor Bobi until August 27 regarding the fake caste certificate case against her.
Bobi, who made history as the first transwoman elected to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, is accused of using a fraudulent Schedule Caste certificate to win the Sultanpuri ward in the December 2022 MCD elections.
The court's directive follows a magisterial court ruling from August 3, prompting the Delhi Police to file an FIR due to conflicting reports from the certificate-issuing authority. Additional Sessions Judge Kapil Kumar heard Bobi's anticipatory bail plea, noting her counsel's claim of a false case against her and a petition for criminal proceedings against the complainant. An inquiry into the matter has been ordered, with the investigating officer expected to respond by August 27.
