In a significant development, BJP MLA Abhay Verma has approached the Delhi High Court alleging bias in CCTV camera installations by the AAP government. According to Verma, the government selectively installed cameras only in constituencies where its leaders were elected, leaving out his Laxmi Nagar constituency.

The petition, supported by advocate Satya Ranjan Swain, states that this selective installation policy was sanctioned by former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia in the 2020-21 budget. However, the actual implementation was allegedly misused by the PWD Minister, focusing on areas favorable to the ruling party.

As per a survey by Bharat Electronics Limited, Laxmi Nagar requires 2,066 cameras for adequate coverage. Verma's repeated appeals to the Chief Secretary have gone unanswered, prompting the legal action. The plea now seeks the High Court's intervention to ensure fair distribution of CCTV cameras to improve law and order in his constituency.
