On Friday, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted searches at the homes of alleged overground workers and sympathizers of the banned CPI (Maoist) in Jharkhand.

The searches were connected to the recovery of incriminating letters addressed to top CPI (Maoist) leaders in July 2022 in Jharkhand's Chaibasa district.

A statement from the NIA revealed that it had registered a case against nine accused in August 2023.

The searches took place at three locations in Chaibasa, Jharkhand, specifically targeting houses in Pusalata, Buru Rengra, and Lipunga, all within West Singhbhum district.

An NIA spokesperson stated that these suspects were assisting senior CPI (Maoist) leaders in executing Naxal activities, as per ongoing NIA investigations.
