Six individuals, including four Bangladeshi nationals, were apprehended in Meghalaya's East Jaintia Hills for illegally crossing the border into India, officials reported on Friday. The arrests occurred in the Ratacherra area.

Acting on a tip-off, Border Security Force (BSF) troops detained the four Bangladeshi immigrants and two local accomplices who facilitated their illegal entry. The suspects were subsequently handed over to local law enforcement.

The incident follows heightened security measures by the BSF in response to violent unrest in Bangladesh that began earlier this month. Since the violence erupted on August 5, the BSF has thwarted multiple attempts by Bangladeshi nationals to illegally enter India through unfenced border areas.
