Two Naxalites, each carrying a bounty of Rs 8 lakh, surrendered in Sukma district, Chhattisgarh, expressing disappointment with the Maoist ideology and practices, police reported on Friday.

They turned themselves in to senior police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) officials, citing the state government's Naxal elimination policy and the Sukma police's rehabilitation program 'Puna Narkom' as significant influences.

Both individuals, identified as Madkam Sanna (35) and Madkam Muya (22), were part of the People's Liberation Guerrilla Army battalion no.1 in south Bastar and implicated in several deadly attacks on security forces. They have been provided with Rs 25,000 each and will undergo further rehabilitation.
