Man Arrested for Harassment and Threats in Chandpur: Communal Tensions Escalate

Mujammil, a resident of Chandpur, was taken into custody on charges of sending obscene messages to a 22-year-old woman and threatening her family, according to local police on Friday.

ASP Ram Arj reported that the woman's complaint on August 20 prompted action against Mujammil, who had allegedly threatened to instigate mob violence. The situation escalated, with around 20 families in the neighborhood protesting and expressing their desire to leave.

Following police intervention, the families removed their protest signs. Station in-charge Rajesh Bainsala was removed for dereliction of duty, and increased police presence was established to maintain order.
