The body of British tech magnate Mike Lynch was recovered after his family yacht sank off the coast of Sicily. His daughter, 18, remains missing. The 56-meter yacht, Bayesian, went down in minutes during a storm. 15 survived, but a judicial inquiry has begun due to unexpected circumstances.
The body of prominent British tech magnate, Mike Lynch, was found on Thursday from the wreckage of his family yacht, which sank in a storm off Sicily's coast earlier this week, according to rescue operation sources. Tragically, Lynch's 18-year-old daughter Hannah remains missing.
The superyacht Bayesian, measuring 56 meters in length, sank swiftly after being struck by severe weather while anchored near Palermo. The yacht, carrying 22 passengers and crew, sunk within minutes. Among the deceased are notable individuals like Judy and Jonathan Bloomer and lawyers Chris and Neda Morvillo.
The bodies were taken to a nearby hospital morgue for identification. Specialist rescuers face challenging conditions in searching the sunken vessel, which rests 50 meters deep. A judicial investigation has opened, with experts questioning how the Perini-built yacht failed to withstand the storm.
