Tragic Playground Strike: 14-Year-Old Dies in Zaporizhzhia Attack

A 14-year-old boy has died following injuries sustained in a Russian missile strike near a children's playground in Ukraine's Zaporizhzhia region. The attack also injured four other children and an 18-year-old girl. The area remains under frequent strikes since Moscow's invasion of Ukraine in 2022.

A 14-year-old boy has succumbed to injuries after a Russian missile hit a kiosk close to a children's playground in Ukraine's southern Zaporizhzhia region, according to regional governor Ivan Fedorov.

Earlier, Ukrainian police reported that four children, aged 11 to 17, and an 18-year-old girl were wounded in the attack on Malokaterynivka village. Reuters footage from the site revealed a burned-out kiosk adjacent to the playground, where toys lay abandoned. Paving stones were stained with blood, and used dressings were scattered on the ground.

The Zaporizhzhia region has been partially occupied by Russian forces since Moscow's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, subjecting it to regular strikes by the Russian military.
