Zelenskiy Urges Allies for Deeper Strikes After Capturing Large Territories
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy announced that Ukrainian forces have seized over 1,250 square kilometers in Russia's Kursk region. He called on allies to permit strikes deep inside Russia, emphasizing the need to protect Ukrainian border communities and highlighting the limitations imposed by current restrictions on weapon use.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has revealed that Ukrainian forces captured more than 1,250 square kilometers in Russia's Kursk region during a strategic operation. The incursion, kept under wraps, demonstrates that the so-called 'red lines' in Russian defense are mere illusions, said Zelenskiy.
Addressing ambassadors via Telegram, Zelenskiy reported that Ukrainian troops have taken control of 92 settlements and reiterated calls for allies to relax restrictions on long-range weapon use against targets inside Russia. He argued that such measures are crucial for protecting Ukrainian border communities.
Kyiv has long appealed for permission to strike military targets deep within Russia, but Western allies have been resistant. Zelenskiy criticized this stance, emphasizing the vital role of timely weapons deliveries in countering Russian advances, particularly near the strategic hubs of Pokrovsk and Toretsk.
