Lawyers Rally for Justice in Calcutta High Court
Lawyers at the Calcutta High Court marched to demand justice for the alleged rape and murder of a woman doctor at R G Kar Medical College and Hospital. Senior lawyers, including ex-West Bengal Advocate General Jayanta Mitra, participated, branding the incident a disgrace for the Bengali community.

Lawyers practising at the Calcutta High Court marched in a procession on Monday demanding justice and punishment for those responsible in the alleged rape and murder of a woman doctor at R G Kar Medical College and Hospital.
Several senior lawyers, including former West Bengal Advocate General Jayanta Mitra, joined the protest march. Carrying placards and festoons, they demanded justice and walked through the rally near the high court during the lunch recess.
Mitra described the alleged rape and gruesome murder of the postgraduate trainee doctor on August 9 as a 'crying shame for the entire Bengali community.'
