Multiple First Information Reports (FIRs) have been filed against Ramgiri Maharaj, a religious leader, for his allegedly defamatory comments against Prophet Mohammad and Islam, according to Maharashtra police.

The contentious remarks, made during a religious event in Nashik's Sinnar Taluka, went viral on social media, prompting police action. Ramgiri Maharaj claimed the comments addressed atrocities against Hindus in Bangladesh.

Chief Minister Eknath Shinde recently shared a public platform with Maharaj, calling him a "saint." Maharaj faces numerous charges, including promoting religious enmity and criminal intimidation, across several districts including Mumbai, Nashik, and Thane.
