A court in Maharashtra's Thane district has sentenced four individuals to seven years' simple imprisonment for assaulting a woman in 2018. The incident occurred when she visited a factory to seek repayment of a loan given by her late husband to the factory owner.
Additional Sessions Judge G G Bhansali passed the order on August 9, discharging the factory owner due to insufficient evidence.
The four convicts were also fined Rs 2,000 each, found guilty under IPC sections 324 and 326. The verdict was based on evidence presented by eight witnesses, confirming the assault on Savitri Singh, which resulted in serious injuries.
