The Madhya Pradesh High Court directed doctors to end their strike and return to work on Saturday. The decision was made by a division bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva and Justice Raj Mohan Singh during a hearing of a petition filed by Narsinghpur district resident Anshul Tiwari, who challenged the strike.

Petitioner's lawyers, senior advocate Sanjay Agrawal and advocate Anju Agrawal, stated that the court has also instructed the doctors to submit their grievances.

A detailed order is awaited. Earlier, the HC issued notices to the state government and others, demanding replies within 24 hours regarding the strike, which was called to protest the rape and murder of a woman doctor in Kolkata. Meanwhile, the Indian Medical Association announced a nationwide halt of non-emergency services for 24 hours starting August 17.
