The Madhya Pradesh High Court has rejected an application filed by Congress MLA Arif Masood, seeking to dismiss an election petition from BJP leader Dhruv Narayan Singh. The petition contested Masood's win in the 2023 state assembly polls, citing corrupt practices and non-disclosure of financial liabilities.
Justice Vivek Agrawal, who presided over a single bench, passed the order on August 14. Masood, a legislator from Bhopal Central, argued that Singh had failed to provide a signed copy of the petition and a supporting affidavit. Despite this, the court found no substantial reason to discard Singh's petition.
The BJP leader's petition accused Masood of hiding information about a bank loan, leading to allegations of financial misconduct. The court determined that these claims required further investigation, thereby dismissing Masood's plea.
