A BJP leader has been arrested for allegedly molesting a teenager in Almora district of Uttarakhand.

According to Almora SSP Devendra Pincha, Bhagwat Singh Bora, accused of molesting a 14-year-old girl, was arrested Saturday night.

Taking cognisance of the incident, Bora was expelled with immediate effect by BJP's state president Mahendra Bhatt.

SSP Pincha said the alleged incident occurred on August 24 in the Salt revenue area, with information received on August 30. A case has been registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and Section 74 of the BNS.

The girl's medical examination was conducted after recording her statement.

State Congress president Karan Mahara criticized the ruling BJP, alleging that the government has given its leaders a "license" to commit atrocities against women.

State BJP president Bhatt condemned the incident as "very unfortunate" and affirmed the party's zero-tolerance policy towards crime.

Bhatt stated that the Pushkar Dhami government is committed to taking strict action against any accused, irrespective of their influence or political association. Bora has been expelled from all posts and removed from the party.
