Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot has sanctioned the prosecution of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in relation to the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) site allotment 'scam'.
According to a senior Raj Bhavan official, the prosecution sanction is based on three petitions by T J Abraham, Pradeep Kumar, and Snehamayi Krishna. Consequently, the Governor's secretariat has informed these petitioners of the decision under section 17 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, and section 218 of the Bharithiya Nagarika Suraksha Samhitha, 2023.
In response, a special state cabinet meeting has been convened. Official and Congress sources reveal that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah intends to challenge the sanction both legally and politically.
