Amit Malviya, the head of BJP's IT department, has taken legal steps against an allegedly defamatory tweet posted by the Samajwadi Party Media Cell. The case was presented in the Delhi High Court on Friday.
Represented by senior lawyers, Malviya's counsel argued that the defamatory tweet, published on social media platform 'X' on August 3, had seriously damaged Malviya's reputation. The tweet accused him of sexual misconduct following his comments on the gang rape of a minor girl in Ayodhya.
Justice Vikas Mahajan, after hearing the arguments, said an order would be passed on the plea. Malviya's team contended that the adverse effects on his reputation warranted the urgent removal of the tweet, which garners 5,000-10,000 hits daily.
