Cloth Merchant Defrauded of Rs 21.43 Lakh in Thane

A cloth merchant from Bhiwandi, Maharashtra, was allegedly defrauded of Rs 21.43 lakh by five individuals from Gujarat. The accused purchased grey cloth between April and August 2023 but failed to pay. The police have registered a case against Nareshkumar Gochi, Priyank Shah, Pravin Jain, Arihant Pravin Jain, and Payal Pravin Jain.

A cloth merchant from Bhiwandi in Maharashtra's Thane district has allegedly been defrauded of Rs 21.43 lakh by five individuals from Gujarat, according to an official statement released on Thursday.

Police reported that the 55-year-old victim filed a complaint, prompting the registration of a case against the accused parties.

The accused, identified as Nareshkumar Gochi, Priyank Shah, Pravin Jain, Arihant Pravin Jain, and Payal Pravin Jain, had purchased grey cloth from the merchant between April and August 2023 but failed to pay the bill amounting to Rs 21.43 lakh. Repeated reminders went unanswered, leading the victim to lodge a police complaint. The individuals have been charged under IPC sections 420 (cheating), 504 (intentional insult), and 506 (criminal intimidation).
