Gujarat is spearheading a sports revolution with its groundbreaking District Level Sports School (DLSS) initiative. This program, a collaborative effort between the public and private sectors, has established specialized sports schools across various districts, offering premier training in disciplines such as judo, fencing, shooting, and archery.

Supported by the Sports Authority of Gujarat, the state's 41 DLSS schools act as a launchpad for emerging athletes, propelling them to national and international success. Diya Jagtap, a young fencer, described her passion as a dream to win Olympic gold. Despite a setback at the national level, she remains determined to achieve her goal.

Vivaan Bhavnesh Patel, another young fencer, praised the excellent coaches and the valuable guidance from senior players at the DLSS. The Sports Authority has invested over Rs900 crore in developing sports infrastructure statewide. In addition to the DLSS, programs like the Khele Gujarat Scheme help nurture young talent and foster a thriving sports culture.

R.S. Ninama, Director General of the Sports Authority of Gujarat, revealed plans to bid for the 2036 Olympics and the state's efforts in intensive talent identification. Bharatbhai Thakur of Vijayi Bharat Sports Academy highlighted the government's support for athletes, including free education and training.

Among the program's success stories is Ritu Prajapati, an international fencer who progressed through DLSS and represented India at the Junior World Fencing Championship. The Shaktidoot Scheme further supports athletes with financial aid, providing up to Rs25 lakh per year. Keval Prajapati, a distinguished shooter, endorsed the scheme for its role in preparing athletes for elite competitions.

Gujarat's commitment to sports development is underscored by its modern infrastructure, including new stadiums and training centers, and its hosting of major events like the National Games and Khelo India Youth Games.
