A 22-year-old woman in Thane, Maharashtra, was injured during an attempt to stop a robber fleeing with her valuables worth Rs 31,500, according to local police reports on Wednesday.
The incident unfolded around 3:30 a.m. on Tuesday at Kisan Nagar in the Wagle Estate area. The woman was asleep in her first-floor apartment when the robber accessed her home by exploiting a gap in an adjacent window, as confirmed by an official from Srinagar police station.
In a bid to escape, the robber grabbed the woman by her neck and made off with a gold ring and a 'mangalsutra' valued at Rs 31,500. During the ensuing chase, the robber threw a knife at the woman, causing injuries to her hand. Despite being hurt, the woman promptly reported the crime to Srinagar police. An FIR was subsequently registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend the suspect.
