On Tuesday, AAP and Congress MLAs were placed under house arrest in Gujarat's Narmada district. They, along with their supporters, were detained before heading to the Statue of Unity to pay tribute to two tribals who were beaten to death last week.
The police stated that permission was not granted to hold the prayer meet at Kevadia near the Statue of Unity. A group of six workers allegedly assaulted the two tribals, Jayesh Tadvi and Sanjay Tadvi, accusing them of theft at the site of the 'Tribal Museum' under construction near the SoU.
The incident led to Jayesh's instant death, while Sanjay succumbed to injuries later in a hospital. Subsequent to the attack, AAP's Chaitar Vasava and Congress's Anant Patel had planned to visit Kevadia, but were restricted by authorities. Six suspects were arrested under various charges, including murder.
