Six men accused of the kidnapping and murder of a private university student in Uttar Pradesh have been arrested, police confirmed on Tuesday. The arrests were made under the Uttar Pradesh Gangsters and Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act.
Dadri SHO Sujeet Upadhyay identified the accused as Rachit Nagar, Sushant, Sumit, Shivam, Shashikant, and Shubham Chaudhary, stating they were detained on Monday.
Reports indicate the accused kidnapped Yash Mittal, a Bennett University student, in February and transported him to Gajraula, Amroha district, where they killed him. The investigation began on February 27, following a complaint by Pradeep Mittal, who reported his son's abduction and a ransom demand of Rs 6 crore.
Police later arrested several suspects, who led them to recover Yash Mittal's body. The accused had reportedly lured Mittal on the pretense of a party, taken him to Gajraula where they consumed alcohol, and subsequently strangled him following a quarrel. The body was found buried on a farm owned by one of the accused, Hrithik.
