UN Chief Condemns Continued Violence in Gaza, Urges Ceasefire
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres condemned the ongoing violence in Gaza and urged Israel and Hamas to agree to a ceasefire and hostages release deal. He emphasized the importance of protecting civilians and ensuring safe humanitarian access across Gaza, according to Deputy UN spokesperson Farhan Haq.
United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Monday condemned the continued loss of life from the war between Israel and Palestinian militants Hamas in the Gaza Strip and urged both sides to rejoin and conclude a ceasefire and hostages release deal, deputy U.N. spokesperson Farhan Haq said.
Guterres stressed the importance of protecting civilians and ensuring unimpeded and safe humanitarian access into and across Gaza, Haq added.
The UN chief's statements come amid escalating violence, which has claimed numerous lives and heightened global concern over the region's humanitarian situation.
