In a troubling incident on August 29, a United Nations humanitarian vehicle in Gaza was shot at 10 times by Israeli forces, despite being clearly marked with the organization's insignia. This vehicle, which was part of a convoy fully coordinated with the Israeli army, had its front windows targeted, according to UN spokesperson Stephane Dujarric.

Fortunately, the two staff members in the vehicle were unharmed. Dujarric emphasized the significance of armoured vehicles, which played a crucial role in saving the staff members' lives, revealing inadequacies in current coordination mechanisms. The UN vows to continue collaborating with the Israeli army to prevent such occurrences in the future.

The spokesperson also reiterated the need for all parties to adhere to international humanitarian law, including the protection of civilians and the provision of essential needs like food, water, shelter, and healthcare in Gaza. He underlined that these protections apply to those under evacuation orders, ensuring safe departure routes and areas.
