The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced on Wednesday evening that they have recovered the body of a soldier who was abducted during a terrorist attack on October 7. The soldier fell in battle during the attack and was subsequently taken to Gaza. His family has been informed and requested that his name not be published. The IDF expressed its condolences and pledged ongoing support for the family.

Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a statement lauding the security forces for their successful operation to recover the soldier's body. 'Tonight, our forces returned to Israel the body of an IDF veteran, whose name was not allowed to be published,' Netanyahu said. 'The fighter fell in a heroic battle on October 7 while defending the settlements surrounding Gaza.'

Netanyahu extended his deepest condolences to the soldier's family, stating, 'The heart of the entire nation mourns the terrible loss. My wife Sara and I send our condolences from the bottom of our hearts to his family.' He also commended the efforts of the Shin Bet and the IDF for their crucial actions.

This news comes a day after the army rescued Farhan Al Qadi, a 52-year-old resident of Rahat. Following Hamas's attacks on October 7, at least 1,200 people were killed, and 252 Israelis and foreigners were taken hostage. Out of the 103 remaining hostages, over 30 have been declared dead. Additionally, Hamas has held two Israeli civilians captive since 2014 and 2015, along with the bodies of two soldiers killed in 2014.
