The Border Security Force (BSF) apprehended eleven Bangladeshi nationals attempting to infiltrate India through the borders of West Bengal, Tripura, and Meghalaya, a BSF spokesperson stated on Sunday.
According to the spokesperson, the apprehended individuals are currently being questioned and will soon be handed over to state police for further legal action. The BSF maintains regular contact with the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) to address mutual issues, including the prevention of atrocities on Indian nationals and minority communities in Bangladesh.
In a related development, the South Bengal Frontier of the BSF, headquartered in Kolkata, reported that their eastern command head, Additional Director General (ADG) Ravi Gandhi, chaired an operational conference to review security along the 4,096-km-long India-Bangladesh border. This review is particularly pertinent in light of the current unrest in Bangladesh and the upcoming Independence Day on August 15.
