A gunfight erupted between armed militant groups in Manipur's Kakching district on Friday, Chief Minister N Biren Singh announced.
Security forces have been deployed to the area to contain the escalating situation, he informed the assembly.
Both militant groups involved belong to the same community, Singh clarified. The clash follows an incident on Thursday in the Bishnupur district, where armed men opened fire on laborers assembling a pre-fabricated house for CRPF deployment near Torbung.
Security forces retaliated, and the firing persisted for 30 minutes without reported casualties. Currently, the situation is stable, Singh noted.
