Two women from a local family lodged a police complaint against BJP MLA Siddharth Shirole for allegedly using their photos without permission in an advertisement hoarding for Maharashtra government's 'Ladki Bahin' scheme.
Shivajinagar MLA Siddharth Shirole, responsible for the hoarding, attributed the design to an external agency but expressed regret in case the women felt offended.
The Maharashtra government, under Eknath Shinde, recently introduced the Ladki Bahin scheme, offering Rs 1,500 per month to eligible women. One complainant mentioned that unauthorized use of their images caused familial disputes, leading to suspicions about monetary gains. Shirole claimed the images were sourced from a paid online depository and issued an apology to the women involved.
