Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Saturday declared that the Majhi Ladki Bahin Scheme will now extend its benefits to 2.5 crore women across the state.

Speaking at the scheme's second-phase launch at Reshimbagh ground, Shinde emphasized that the government has already transferred funds into the bank accounts of 1.7 crore women beneficiaries.

Joined by senior leaders including Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar, Shinde stressed the necessity of the scheme, citing his own family's struggles and the value of the Rs 1,500 monthly assistance. He also rebutted opposition criticism, asserting the efficacy of the scheme.
