Tebboune Declared Algerian President Amid Allegations of Election Irregularities
President Abdulmadjid Tebboune has been declared the winner of Algeria's presidential election, securing 95% of the vote. Rival candidate Abdelaali Hassani Cherif alleged vote-counting irregularities, highlighting a turnout of just 48%. Cherif and two other candidates objected to the results, questioning the transparency and legitimacy of the election.

Algerian authorities have confirmed President Abdulmadjid Tebboune as the victor in the latest presidential election, with official preliminary results showing Tebboune securing a staggering 95% of votes. The low voter turnout of 48% has raised concerns over the election's legitimacy, with rival candidate Abdelaali Hassani Cherif alleging irregularities in the vote-counting process.
Hassani Cherif's campaign has accused polling station officials of inflating results and failing to provide necessary vote-sorting records to candidates' representatives. The election has been marred by claims of proxy voting and pressures on polling officials to manipulate outcomes.
Despite the electoral commission's head, Mohammed Charfi, ensuring transparency and fair competition, three presidential candidates including Tebboune and Cherif have issued a joint statement objecting to the provisional results. The statement cited ambiguity and conflicting numbers, questioning the overall transparency of the election process.
