Late Sunday, Israeli airstrikes struck multiple locations in central Syria, resulting in at least four fatalities and 13 injuries, as reported by state media.

Syrian state news agency SANA indicated that Syrian air defenses attempted to counter the aggression that hit various points in the central region. The strikes damaged a highway in Hama province and ignited fires, which firefighting teams were working to control early Monday.

According to SANA, four deceased individuals and 13 injured people were taken to Masyaf National Hospital in the western Hama province. The identities of the victims, whether civilians or militants, were not immediately clear.

Furthermore, the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights revealed that one strike targeted a scientific research facility in Maysaf. The site, along with others, reportedly houses Iranian militias and experts involved in weapon development. Local media also noted additional strikes near the coastal city of Tartous.

The Israeli military has not yet commented on the incident. While Israel has conducted numerous attacks in Syrian government-controlled areas over recent years, it seldom acknowledges or publicly discusses these operations. These strikes typically target Syrian forces or Iranian-backed groups, aiming to halt Iranian entrenchment in Syria, a vital route for weapon transfers to Hezbollah.

Hezbollah has been engaged in clashes with Israeli forces for the past 11 months, set against the backdrop of Israel's conflict with Hamas in Gaza, an ally of Hezbollah.
