The Bombay High Court on Monday extended for two weeks an ad-interim stay on a special court's order that had allowed former media executive Indrani Mukerjea, the prime accused in the Sheena Bora murder case, to travel abroad.
The high court's decision came after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) challenged the lower court's ruling. Consequently, a single bench of Justice S C Chandak has adjourned the plea for two weeks and extended the interim stay accordingly.
Earlier, the special CBI court had granted Mukerjea permission to travel to Europe (Spain and the United Kingdom) for ten days within the next three months for work. Mukerjea, who is out on bail, is required to attend the Indian Embassy or its diplomatic mission offices during her travel and obtain an attendance certificate. However, the CBI argued against her traveling, given her status as the prime accused in an ongoing trial.
