A 40-year-old convict, Kamal Kumar, who was on the run after jumping parole in a 2002 murder and kidnapping case, has been apprehended, police confirmed on Tuesday.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Amit Goel stated, "We tracked his mobile phone activities and arrested him in a tent shop from Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh on Monday."

Goel revealed that in February 2002, Kumar had a dispute with his neighbor in Dakshinpuri and subsequently kidnapped and murdered the neighbor's eight-year-old daughter to exact revenge. That same year, Kumar was convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment. He was granted parole for 90 days on May 25, 2021, but failed to surrender afterward and had been evading arrest since then, despite a court order to return within 15 days of the parole expiration.
