An alleged interstate smuggler was apprehended in Rajasthan's Churu district, with poppy husk worth Rs 5 crore confiscated from him, authorities announced on Friday.

Churu Superintendent of Police, Jai Yadav, revealed that during routine patrols, police intercepted a container truck bearing a Nagaland numberplate coming from Sardarshahar. Upon inspection, they discovered sacks of poppy husk concealed beneath sacks of rice.

The narcotic substance, estimated to be worth approximately Rs 5 crore, was seized. The suspect, identified as Daljit Singh (43) from Punjab, was arrested and charged under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
