In a significant operation, police in Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla district dismantled a human trafficking module, rescuing four minor Rohingya girls, officials announced on Friday.
Following a tip-off, the police targeted a human trafficking network operating in Ushkura. During the raid, three minor girls from Myanmar were rescued at Shakeel Ahmad Bhat's residence. Bhat, a local resident, was found involved in exploiting minors brought from outside the Union Territory.
Bhat confessed during interrogation that he sold one girl to Mehraj Ahmad Tantray of Kanlibagh. Subsequent raids led to the rescue of another minor girl. Both Bhat and Tantray have been arrested, and efforts are being made to apprehend others involved in the trafficking network. Authorities are urging the public to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities immediately.
