Veteran actor Ian McKellen, known for his roles in blockbuster franchises like 'The Lord of the Rings' and 'X-Men,' is recovering after a dramatic fall during a performance at London's Noel Coward theatre.
The 85-year-old actor was performing a fight scene as John Falstaff in 'Player Kings' when he lost his footing and fell off the stage. McKellen credits the fat suit he wore during the performance with saving him from more serious injuries. Despite his quick cries for help, the show was cancelled.
Currently, McKellen is recuperating with a neck and wrist brace and has yet to fully mend his chipped vertebrae and fractured wrist. He remains under the care of friends in his London home and expressed feeling ashamed for letting down the production.
