A Delhi court has sought input from the National Investigation Agency regarding the bail application submitted by imprisoned Kashmiri parliamentarian Rashid Engineer.

Arrested in 2019 for his alleged involvement in a Jammu and Kashmir terror funding case, Rashid, who defeated former chief minister Omar Abdullah in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, is currently lodged in Tihar jail. He was initially taken into custody in 2017.

The court directed the NIA to file its response by August 28, following a notice from Additional Sessions Judge Chander Jit Singh. Rashid, who was previously granted custody parole to take his office oath, saw his name surface during investigations related to Kashmiri businessman Zahoor Watali.
