The Karnataka High Court on Monday announced that the bail and anticipatory bail hearings for former MP Prajwal Revanna, facing charges of rape and sexual assault, will be held in-camera. Justice M Nagaprasanna stated that private hearings are necessary to protect the identities of those involved.

This decision follows a request made by Special Public Prosecutor Professor Ravivarma Kumar, who highlighted the need to safeguard the victim's identity. As of the latest proceedings, a chargesheet against Revanna has been filed and reviewed by the High Court.

Prajwal Revanna, currently under judicial custody at Parappana Agrahara Jail, is under investigation in four separate cases. He was apprehended by the Special Investigation Team on May 31 upon his return from Germany. Explicit videos allegedly featuring Revanna emerged before the recent Lok Sabha polls, leading to multiple legal battles and his suspension from the JD(S) party.
