European Union Ambassador to India, Herve Delphin, underscored the urgent need for international collaboration to track and disable terrorist activities online. "Only with a joint and regional effort can we tackle the challenges posed by terrorism and the exploitation of the internet for extremist propaganda," Delphin stated on Wednesday.

Delphin set the tone for the EU-India regional conference on 'Combating Terrorist Content Online' in New Delhi. He highlighted the role of digitalisation and social media in the rise of online terrorism, as well as the potential of AI to counter these threats. "Tracking and disabling terrorist activities online is one of the key battlegrounds in the global fight against terrorism. Preventive action, tech expertise, and cooperation are crucial," noted the ambassador.

The event emphasized the increasing threat of online extremism and the necessity for coordinated global efforts to combat it. Delphin cited the EU legislation enacted in 2021 aimed at rapid removal of terrorist content and the role AI can play in these efforts. He also highlighted the importance of ensuring that actions taken are balanced with maintaining freedom of access. Delphin expressed optimism about the future of India-EU relations, particularly in digital security, reflecting the conference's significance in fortifying regional cooperation.
