Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Poland will be historic and significant, according to Indian Ambassador to Poland, Nagma M Mallick. This marks the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Poland in 45 years, and it is expected to boost bilateral relations considerably.

Ambassador Mallick highlighted the excitement surrounding the visit, noting its prominence in Polish media. She emphasized Modi's international stature and the symbolic importance of the visit, which fills a nearly half-century gap in diplomatic exchanges.

Poland holds a crucial position in Central Europe and is a vital member of the European Union. India enjoys strong political and economic ties with Poland, with bilateral trade reaching approximately USD 6 billion. Cultural connections also play a significant role, with Polish people showing a keen interest in Indian cultural and spiritual heritage.

Prime Minister Modi will visit the Good Maharaja square during his trip, named after Maharaja Jam Sri Digvijaysinhji Ranjitsinhji, who hosted over 5,000 Polish refugees during World War II. Modi will also address the Indian diaspora at a community event.

This year marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two nations, which were formally established in 1954.
