Two men were taken into custody on Thursday in relation to an assault on two Army officers and the alleged rape of a female friend during a picnic in Mhow town, Madhya Pradesh, police reported.

Superintendent of Police (Rural) Hitika Vasal informed PTI that six suspects have been identified concerning the Wednesday morning incident in the Jam Gate area, a forest-surrounded hilly region.

Investigations are ongoing to apprehend the remaining four suspects. The incident occurred when the two Army officers, ages 23 and 24, were attending a picnic with two female friends. One couple was held captive and assaulted, while the suspects demanded Rs 10 lakh for their release. An FIR has been registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Arms Act.
