Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended a ceremonial welcome to his Malaysian counterpart, Anwar Ibrahim, at Rashtrapati Bhavan in Delhi on Tuesday. Randhir Jaiswal, the official spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs, shared images of the leaders as they met during Ibrahim's state visit to India.
In a social media post, the Ministry of External Affairs highlighted the significance of the visit, calling it a 'special beginning.' It underlined Malaysia's role as a key part of India's Act East Policy and as a valued regional partner. Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, who arrived in Delhi on Monday, was greeted at the airport by Union Minister of State, V. Somanna.
The Malaysian Prime Minister paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat by laying a wreath and signing the visitor's book. During his visit, he is also scheduled to meet with President Droupadi Murmu and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar. The visit aims to further strengthen the long-standing socio-cultural and historical ties between India and Malaysia, setting the stage for enhanced strategic and multi-sectoral cooperation.
