India is set to inaugurate the third edition of the Voice of Global South Summit today, in line with its 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam' philosophy. As an extension of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas aur Sabka Prayas,' the event is a significant diplomatic initiative, according to a Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) statement earlier this week.

The summit aims to unite countries of the Global South, providing a platform for them to share their perspectives on critical issues. Named 'An Empowered Global South for a Sustainable Future,' the summit will tackle challenges such as conflicts, food and energy security crises, and climate change, which disproportionately impact developing nations, the MEA highlighted.

All countries from the Global South have been invited to participate. The virtual summit comprises Leaders' and Ministerial sessions, with Prime Minister Modi hosting the inaugural session at the Head of State/Government level. Topics to be discussed include global governance, health, youth engagement, trade, technology, finance, sustainable energy, resource development, and climate change. Inputs from previous summits have shaped discussions in the G-20 Summits under India's presidency.
