Healthcare services across West Bengal were significantly disrupted on Saturday as doctors joined their junior colleagues in a cease work protest. The strike aimed to demand justice for the alleged rape and murder of a postgraduate trainee at the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.
Outpatient departments at both government and private hospitals experienced severe service disruptions as doctors protested the August 14 vandalism incident at RG Kar MCH. 'Our agitation will continue until our demands are met,' a protesting doctor stated.
Non-essential healthcare services were left crippled at several state-run hospitals, including SSKM Hospital, Sambhunath Pandit Hospital, and Calcutta National Medical College and Hospital. Private healthcare facilities in the state faced similar disruptions.
