In a significant crackdown on corruption, three government officers were apprehended in Hyderabad and Bhadradri Kothagudem on Tuesday for allegedly accepting bribes, according to the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB). The arrests highlight ongoing efforts to root out corruption in public offices across Telangana.
Sri Venkoba, an Assistant Executive Engineer from Circle XI, GHMC, Rajendra Nagar, Hyderabad, was nabbed by ACB officials while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 50000 to record project work measurements in the M Book, official sources revealed. The tainted money was retrieved from Venkoba's possession, and tests confirmed the presence of bribe substances on his fingertips. He was promptly brought before the Additional Special Judge for SPE and Anti-Corruption Bureau Cases in Hyderabad.
In a related operation in Bhadradri Kothagudem, the ACB's Khammam Unit arrested two officers, Sri Syed Khaleelullah, an Administrative Officer, and Sri Damalla Sudhakar, a Junior Assistant at the Government Medical College. They faced allegations of demanding Rs 7 lakh and taking an advance payment of Rs 3 lakh for preparing salary bills and reinstating outsourced employees. The bribe money was found in Khaleelullah's office, with chemical tests corroborating finger contact. Both individuals have been presented before the Special Court for SPE & ACB cases in Warangal, with investigations underway.
