In anticipation of severe weather conditions, Tamil Nadu has taken preventive measures by declaring a holiday for educational institutions in key districts, expecting heavy rainfall in the coming days. This decision follows a meeting led by Chief Minister MK Stalin, focusing on emergency preparedness.
The government has also advised IT companies to allow employees to work from home from October 15 to 18. A comprehensive monsoon preparedness plan is in place, with necessary resources such as pumps, motorboats, and emergency services on standby to tackle potential flooding.
Forecasts by the India Meteorological Department indicate an intensifying weather system over the Bay of Bengal, likely exacerbating rain levels. Warnings issued to fishermen highlight rough seas and gusty winds as the region braces for the northeast monsoon's onset.
