Search and rescue operations continued in Nepal for the third consecutive day on Monday after monsoon-induced floods and landslides claimed more than 200 lives, marking one of the worst rain-related disasters in recent years.
Over the weekend, relentless downpours triggered floods and landslides, causing widespread destruction in Kathmandu and across multiple districts. At least 204 fatalities have been reported, and 89 people have been injured, while 33 remain missing, according to the Armed Police Force (APF) and MyRepublica news portal.
Officiating Prime Minister Prakash Man Singh and the Home Ministry have pledged support for rescue, relief, and rehabilitation efforts. Security forces have rescued around 4,500 individuals, provided free medical treatment to the injured, and distributed food and emergency supplies. The disaster has also led to power outages in major cities and disrupted transport due to damaged roads.
